The identity of my birthday RB card will be public soon enough, I'm sure, so I figured I'd write a little about it. I won't state its identity outright, in hopes that I can encourage anyone who's not familiar to click the link :P. First, I didn't know a "wimpy" band could wind up ranking quite so high. :) But perhaps it is the father of all wimpy bands so it makes sense. A word on the video I picked: a lot of people on Youtube despised it because it is clearly not a genuine live performance. The track is the identical one from the CD and it starts playing long before the drummer sits down. But hey, I like it as a music video. I have had crushes on lots of musicians but not on this one before the other day when I found this video while trying to make a decision on an RB birthday card :). Yes I know he could be gay, and that's irrelevant :-P. I sure hope I didn't ruin anyone's dreams for their own birthday card. I know Kris Weberg is a big fan but he doesn't play RB.
As for the only musician I should really have a crush on (my husband!) he didn't want to be in Rock Block, for personal reasons. He doesn't have a video online anyhow. I spend too much energy trying to defend myself from imaginary allegations of wrongdoing, of course it's OK for a married person to admire some celebrity, right? :P
A band I was thinking of choosing is The Field Mice but they don't seem to have any color photos, let alone a decent video. I did come across an interesting cover version video which I liked rather more than the original song. I once read "Sensitive" being described as "history's most adorable failed punk song" citation and it is true in my opinion that there's something missing from the original version. It's meant to be played with a bit of energy! Here someone has posted the original and here is a cover version by The C86 All-Stars who apparently include a bunch of members from Aberdeen, Bobby's girlfriend's former band, so it probably has some measure of approval from Bobby.

So last week Darrell's friend Mike discovered on Wikipedia that Galesburg, North Dakota, a town near where Darrell and Darrin grew up and where they often hung out at the cafe, actually has the third tallest structure in the world. I find the photo on the wikipedia page rather amusing, by the way, due to its unusual dimensions. Upon discovering this, Mike, Darrell, and Darrin immediately drove out to pay the tower a visit. Go »

Ha ha, made you look!
Ok I know I said it was irrelevant but a person can have their curiosity. That was actually the first Smiths video I came across. Looking at some others lately I can't help noticing that Morrissey usually seems a bit more... flamboyant... or you know, gives a clearer impression of "gayness" whether or not he actually is. So I wonder if he was intentionally toning it down for a TV audience or maybe just had a more rehearsed dance or maybe I'm just nuts.(I don't have the best track record with gaydar, after all). Anyway if he was indeed toning it down, while it's certainly sad that we live in a world where someone would feel pressured to do so, the fact that I enjoy that particular video also indicates that my preferences might not be as completely out of whack as they could be :P
