the storm was past people were starting to move around and then I hear what sounds like a gunshot coming from the south east corner of our house......we walk out side and a tree half a block away crashed into the power lines ripping my transmission line off the house along with a a bunch of siding. Joy. not only no power but I have repairs to do before we can even get power back. the only highlight is that at least I'll have power before the end of the week. My parents live on Aquidneck island which lost one of the main transmission towers. they are looking at weeks before they get power again

One large tree came down in my neighborhood but didn't affect me and thankfully no one else. Power is good but I won't know about the new house for sure until the final walk-through Wednesday night.

Weeks is nothing we had months when we were living in Guam...reason to own a generator
yeah the island has too many people who know people they ended up getting the lion share of the manpower in the state for the first 2 days after the storm.....they have power.....I got mine back at about 8 am yesterday new service wire as well.....cable and internet this afternoon. I did most of the repairs on the house there is still a piece of outside corner trim that needs replacing.
The offending tree was chopped up by the city today I took a couple of logs to season and sculpt this spring

Last day skateboarding of 2007
OK I admit that a 41 year old man finding a day of enjoyment skateboarding might sound strange but I find it centers me and provides a source of exercise that I can't find else ware. That said I spent the day working on my tuck, downhilling in a nearby neighborhood. I lost count of the number of times I went down the half mile hill my legs are feeling the hike back up (gotta earn those runs) so I'm gonna guess more than 20 times and I know I listened to at least 6 hours of music on my Ipod. After spending the morning cleaning and setting up for a visit from my inlaws (looking forward to that being over) I spent the afternoon Downhill skateboarding with a bunch of guys...life is so simple with a bit of speed. Sorry to hear it. I've been without power in the summertime for a few days post-hurricane and it's an annoying test of patience. Hang in there.
